This model initiative advanced Vienna’s hospital system, enhancing healthcare services in the city's north. Consolidating three hospitals (KH Floridsdorf & Gerasdorf, Semmelweis Clinic) improved efficiency and reduced costs.
Facilities established include internal medicine with gastroenterology and acute geriatrics/remobilisation, general and visceral surgery, anaesthesia and intensive care, gynaecology and obstetrics, cardiac and vascular surgery, cardiology, paediatrics and adolescent medicine, child and adolescent psychiatry, emergency medicine, orthopaedics, psychiatry, pulmonology, thoracic surgery, trauma surgery, as well as institutes for laboratory medicine and blood depot, pathology and bacteriology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, radiology and an in-house pharmacy.
The Hospital Nord was designed as a specialised hospital with 785 beds, covering a site area of 111,000 m². The gross floor area amounts to 180,000 m² for the hospital and 35,000 m² for two parking garages, which offer 1,085 parking spaces.
