Apprentice PowerBase in Gmunden | Project management for modern training centre

Modern training location, active involvement of apprentices and sustainable implementation with digital planning.

The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of construction of the new ‘Lehrlings PowerBase’ in Gmunden. The project combines a training workshop and residential building to create a modern centre for education, community and innovation. iC is providing project management services, supporting the structured coordination of all planning and construction phases and contributing to the sustainable realisation of this educational facility.

Space for training and community

The Apprentice PowerBase is designed as a versatile learning and living space that combines the training of technical specialists with modern requirements for living and leisure. In addition to workshops and training rooms, there will also be lounge and recreation areas that promote exchange and collaborative learning. The concept is intended to enable holistic development – professionally, socially and personally. The close integration of theory, practice and community creates an environment that brings training to life and strengthens team spirit.

Involvement of apprentices in the planning

A central element is the active participation of the apprentices themselves. In workshops, they were able to contribute ideas and requirements – for example, flexible furniture, modern fitness rooms or individual storage solutions. This creates an environment that is geared to the actual needs of the users.

Sustainability and outlook

The new building is being planned and implemented in accordance with climate-active standards. The use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) ensures precise and transparent project management. Sustainable materials, energy efficiency and a resource-saving construction process also play a central role. The project is being developed in close cooperation between iC and Energie AG Oberösterreich. Completion of the Apprentice PowerBase is planned for the start of the 2027 academic year.
