Construction work on the comprehensive refurbishment and extension of the BASOP/BAfEP campus in St. Pölten has officially begun. The entire project is being managed by the Province of Lower Austria, represented by the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government, Department of Building and Property Management.
Together with the lead architect Silbermayr, iC is providing services in the areas of structural engineering, building physics, general planning support and on-site construction supervision.
New capacity for training and support
The project focuses on modernising the existing school and creating additional facilities for education and childcare. In addition to the comprehensive refurbishment of the existing building, a new wing is being constructed to house a five-class nursery and a daycare centre.
The modernised campus will in future provide space for more than 850 pupils, children and staff in the nursery and childcare areas.
Sustainable and forward-looking infrastructure
The project also focuses on sustainable energy solutions and modern technical standards. In future, photovoltaic systems will contribute to the campus’s energy supply and support resource-efficient operations.
iC is supporting the project, focusing on structural safety, building physics and quality-assured implementation. The aim is to ensure high standards for the more than 850 users of the campus, whilst integrating the historic building with a modern extension.
Investment in Lower Austria’s educational infrastructure
The start of construction marks another step forward in the development of Lower Austria’s education and childcare infrastructure. The project creates a modern framework for training, childcare and future requirements for sustainable educational buildings.
