Setting a new benchmark for sustainable building transformation the building is designed in alignment with the European Green Deal’s 2050 net-zero goal and the EPO’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030.
Preserving the Past, Building a Greener Future
Rather than opting for demolition, the original reinforced concrete framework from 1972 was retained—drastically reducing CO₂ emissions by 50% compared to a conventional new-build approach. This forward-thinking strategy highlights the future of eco-friendly urban renewal, proving that sustainability and architectural heritage can coexist.
To further enhance energy efficiency and environmental impact, the building features a locally sourced Austrian larch façade and integrates renewable energy solutions designed to meet the BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certification—the highest sustainability rating in the DACH region.
Key Green Building Innovations
- 20 underground probes provide renewable heating and cooling
- Solar energy captured from the roof and facade
- Enhancing indoor comfort with energy-efficient climate control
- Sustainable resource use and ecological rainwater systems
