Julius-Tandler-Platz in Vienna's 9th district, one of the central transport hubs around Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof, is currently undergoing extensive redevelopment.
iC is working with PCD to provide project management services for the redevelopment. The focus is on coordination, quality assurance and adherence to deadlines and budgets.
Measures on the square
The redesign of the forecourt at Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof is part of Vienna's ‘Raus aus dem Asphalt’ (Out of the Asphalt) initiative. It includes, among other things:
- the unsealing of surfaces and the creation of around 2,100 m² of additional green space,
- the planting of 46 large-crowned trees,
- new seating, drinking fountains and water features,
- a continuous two-way cycle path connecting the Gürtel and the Danube Canal.
Parallel to the greening, the infrastructure will be modernised, for example with light-coloured paving, measures for rainwater infiltration and the expansion of cycle paths in Alserbachstraße and Fuchsthallergasse.
Contribution to urban development
The redesign is part of Vienna's ‘Raus aus dem Asphalt’ (Out of the Asphalt) initiative. The aim is to make central public spaces more climate-resilient and improve their quality for residents and passers-by. With our project management services, we are helping to ensure that these requirements are reliably implemented.
