Landestheater Linz | Renovation and extension of a historic cultural site

The comprehensive redesign of Promenade 39 will create a modern event venue by 2027 that combines historical substance with contemporary use.

The Landestheater Linz is one of the city's most influential cultural venues. The historic building complex at Promenade 39 is currently undergoing extensive renovation and expansion to meet today's requirements for event spaces, visitor comfort and technical infrastructure.

Restoration and extension for new uses

A central focus of the project is the restoration of the Redoutensäle halls. In addition, a new foyer will be built to modernise and enhance the reception and lounge area. Furthermore, the event centre will be expanded to include two additional halls, significantly increasing the range of flexible spaces available.

New catering and lounge areas

The Promenadenhof restaurant will also be redesigned and modernised as part of the renovation. In addition, a new terrace will be created on the first floor, which can be used for events and breaks in future. This will create new lounge areas that functionally complement the cultural location and enhance the visitor experience.

Modernisation of stage and rehearsal rooms

In addition to the public areas, the project also includes the gradual modernisation of the stage and rehearsal rooms. This will further improve and secure the technical and organisational conditions for contemporary theatre operations in the long term.

Completion of the renovation is scheduled for 2027, creating cultural spaces in Linz that sustainably combine history and modern functionality.
