Lower Austrian Parliament | Rethinking the Plenary Chamber

|   Projects

Future-proof, accessible, and technically state-of-the-art

The plenary chamber of the Lower Austrian Parliament is undergoing a fundamental redesign. To meet the demands of the coming decades, a new chamber is being created that offers barrier-free access, complies with modern energy standards, and features a circular layout. The new design creates visual connections, fosters dialogue, and supports democratic processes – both architecturally and functionally.

A key element of the redesign is the 180° rotation of the chamber and a new circular seating arrangement – a clear signal for openness, participation, and equality in parliamentary practice.

Architectural vision meets technical precision

A proven partnership is behind the project:
Overall planning is provided by Palme.Atelier.Architekten, project management is handled by VIVITimmo GmbH, and iC consulenten is responsible for accompanying control – ensuring technical compliance and quality assurance throughout.

A major milestone towards implementation

With all planning documents now submitted, the project has reached an important milestone. The path is clear for the construction of a modern, inclusive, and efficient parliamentary space – designed with people and their role in the democratic process in mind.
