At the Portugal Railway Summit 2026, international experts discussed the future of rail transport, sustainable infrastructure and strategic investment in the mobility of tomorrow.

This week, our colleagues João Dinis and Johannes Kleberger attended the Portugal Railway Summit 2026 in Tomar, Portugal, alongside GEG. The international conference brought together representatives from the railway, infrastructure and mobility sectors to discuss current developments and future challenges in rail transport.

Focus on mobility and infrastructure

The summit focused on topics such as high-speed rail, urban mobility, interoperability, digitalisation, sustainability and international cooperation. The aim of the event was to strengthen dialogue between infrastructure operators, industry, planners and policymakers, and to develop shared visions for the future development of the European rail sector.

The Portuguese Minister for Infrastructure, Miguel Pinto Luz, also attended the event and emphasised the importance of long-term investment and strategic partnerships for the future of mobility.

International platform for exchange

In addition to specialist presentations and panel discussions, the summit offered numerous opportunities for networking and professional exchange within the international rail community. The event once again highlighted the growing importance of cross-border cooperation for a sustainable and efficient transport infrastructure.
