Following the devastating storm damage in 2021, the historic sports facility in Schönau am Königssee is currently undergoing extensive restoration.
Geotechnical Consulting for Long-Term Safety
Our experts are contributing their geological and geotechnical expertise to this challenging infrastructure project. The aim is to reliably assess natural hazards on site – such as debris flows and rockfalls – and to develop appropriate protective measures. We apply the latest methods in hazard analysis and risk management.
Specific measures include:
-
Construction of a new debris flow barrier to effectively divert mud and rock avalanches,
-
Modernization of existing rockfall protection systems, to ensure the highest level of safety for athletes and staff,
-
Repair and maintenance of the cooling system, which is essential for the smooth operation of the ice track,
-
Restoration of the racecourse, including the bobsleigh start area, to prepare for future international competitions.
Contributing to Sustainable Sports Infrastructure
In close cooperation with other planners and project partners, we are making a vital contribution to the revival of this internationally renowned winter sports facility. The focus is not only on reconstruction but also on the sustainable, safe, and high-performance redesign of the entire track.
Our work at Königssee sends a clear message: to preserve world-class sports venues – safe, modern, and ready for the next generation of athletes.
