Groundbreaking ceremony for new food service facility at Donaustadt Clinic

Modern cuisine, sustainable new buildings, future-oriented healthcare.

On 29 September, the foundation stone for the new food service building at the Donaustadt Clinic was laid in Vienna. Together with Lorenz Consult ZT, iC is responsible for project management for the Vienna Health Association (WIGEV) as part of a consortium, ensuring smooth operations and reliable construction progress.

Modern and sustainable design

The new building covers around 9,400 m² and will house a modern production kitchen, a staff restaurant with around 300 seats and office space. Around 13,500 meals per day will be prepared there for patients and staff – including for the Floridsdorf Clinic. The multi-storey new building will be directly connected to the existing hospital complex and will feature sustainable architecture with green roofs, photovoltaic systems and bright inner courtyards for more daylight and energy efficiency.

Efficient kitchen operation with Cook&Chill

Special attention is being paid to the innovative Cook&Chill process: meals are gently pre-cooked, quickly cooled and only finished shortly before consumption. This ensures better nutrient retention, constant temperatures and optimised workflows for the kitchen team.

An important step for healthcare

The new building will create a modern and sustainable infrastructure that will ensure a reliable food supply for patients and staff in the long term. The project thus makes a significant contribution to the further development of healthcare in the 22nd district. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2028.
