Already at early stages of the project, we had the opportunity of playing a key role in this remarkable endeavour by offering design services. Construction planning, implementation, and construction design encompassed our responsibilities, all while navigating demanding geotechnical conditions. The unveiling of an abandoned mining tunnel during the building process posed an atypical challenge, which our employees addressed through creative solutions and expert collaboration.
Our team collaborated closely with contractors and geotechnical specialists to ensure all technical and geological hurdles were successfully tackled. During the construction, traditional mining techniques were utilized and applied the NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method). The twin-tube TS26 tunnel, with each tube containing two lanes of traffic moving in one direction, connects the villages of Sady Górne, Stare Bogaczowice, and Nowe Bogaczowice.
Stretching 2.3 km, this tunnel, opened on 31 July, is the longest non-urban tunnel driven into solid rock and is part of the newly built 16 km section of the S3 route between Bolków and Kamienna Góra. The 480 km long S3 motorway, links Poland’s northwestern Baltic coast to the Czech Republic in the south.
