The shell of the new Internal Medicine III building at the University Hospital has been completed. iC has been commissioned with local construction supervision and will accompany the project into the next construction phase. This marks the achievement of a key milestone that will form the basis for the further fitting out of the building.
Building overview
The building has ten floors, two of which are underground. It is the tallest building on campus and thus forms a new landmark within the existing hospital structure. The new building stands on a technically sophisticated clay soil foundation and will bring several departments under one roof in future – including oncology. Its completion will create a modern infrastructure that meets current medical standards and takes future developments into account.
The new building will provide Internal Medicine III with a modern spatial base. The consolidation of various wards will shorten distances, facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation and improve treatment options for patients.
Next steps
The shell construction phase will now be followed by the interior work, the installation of building services and the fitting out of the medical infrastructure. The aim is to equip the university hospital for the future and to expand its oncology care capacities in a sustainable manner.
