WTC 2025 | World Tunnel Congress Stockholm

|   Events

The event was fully dedicated to a sustainable and digital future of tunnel construction – and we were proud to contribute with forward-looking presentations.

This year’s World Tunnel Congress brought together over 2,000 international experts from planning, construction, and research to discuss the latest developments in underground infrastructure. With 586 technical presentations, WTC 2025 offered an impressive program, clearly focused on sustainability, digitalisation, and innovation.

iC’s Contribution: Digital Modelling for Better Infrastructure

A particular highlight from our perspective was the active involvement of our experts Jonas Weil and Jure Cesnik (ELEA iC). In two presentations, they demonstrated how modern planning technologies can enable the implementation of sustainable large-scale projects:

  • 3D geological modelling for the Vienna subway extension: This technology allows for more precise planning and reduces geotechnical risks already in the design phase.

  • End-to-end digitalisation from design to execution: A practical example of seamless integration of BIM and digital workflows throughout all project phases.

Both projects impressively show how digital tools can support the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 9 – Innovation, SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth).

International Exchange for a Sustainable Industry

WTC 2025 was more than just a technical congress – it was a place of knowledge exchange, collaboration, and inspiration. For our colleagues, it offered the opportunity to contribute new impulses, strengthen international connections, and further promote the importance of innovation and climate action in tunnel construction.
