FH Campus Wien | Milestone

|   Projects

The last square metres of ceiling concrete were poured, with the support from STRABAG.

This concludes the structural work and constitutes a true milestone. Recently, we celebrated the topping out ceremony as well. Within this project, we are delighted that iC played an essential part by managing and supervising the construction site.

The 42,000 square meter building-extension development started in February 2023, utilising an alliance contract. Building Information Modelling (BIM), Lean Management, and Early Contractor Involvement were leveraged for increased efficiency. 140 geothermal probes cover 85% of heating and 75% of cooling demands, while a durable Alucobond facade insulates the interior. The building’s completion is set for September 2024, and will accommodate the Departments of Applied Nursing Science as well Health Sciences.

Establishing new benchmarks in the academic world, by nurturing a setting conducive to collaborative learning, research and innovation, is the aim. Features of the new structure will include:

  • state-of-the-art auditorium designed for 620 participants.
  • a modern refectory for 600 people.
  • integration of specialised bachelor's degree programmes in healthcare, all under one roof.
  • modern facilities such as simulation units, the "Living Lab" and special rooms for different disciplines.
  • a green concept with solar panels on the roof, geothermal energy solutions and 322 freshly planted trees for a sustainable touch.
  • a paradise for cyclists with extensive cycling facilities that guarantee an environmentally friendly way to work.
