Siezenheim II biomass cogeneration plant is now officially operating

|   Projects

This marks a significant stride in Salzburg's transition towards clean energy and decarbonization.

We are proud to have supervised local construction management and were responsible for the planning of this impressive endeavor. The recently opened Siezenheim II biomass facility will provide heat to approximately 8,300 homes and produce electricity equivalent to the consumption of an average of 9,500 residencies.

With an investment of around 46 million euros, this project signifies a major leap towards Salzburg's energy transformtation, with the objective of reducing fossil fuel imports by 2050. Moreover, Salzburg AG’s district heating is on track to be fully decarbonised by 2040. The biomass cogeneration plant will raise the amount of renewable energy in the region's district heating system to 40%.
