On 18 July 2022, the new ÖBB training campus was officially opened in St. Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria. This project invests in training future employees and offers a combination of showpieces and model facilities with state-of-the-art digital learning methods. The comprehensive selection of occupational groups ranges from train dispatchers, shunters and train drivers to wagon masters. With this pioneering project, ÖBB is creating an Austria-wide competence centre for railway professions and aims to ensure the training of excellent specialists.

The training campus is located directly on the Traisentalbahn railway line and is connected to the public transport system with its own stop, so that up to 600 people can be transported efficiently to and from the campus every day. Consisting of a seminar and accommodation wing, the campus offers an ideal training and further education location for railway professions and sets new standards with the most modern educational infrastructure with large teaching model and track construction halls as well as the latest model and simulation facilities. With photovoltaic systems, scattered flower meadows and climate-active Silver Standard verification, the entire site is also all about sustainability.

iC and F + P Architekten took on the general planning for the project as a consortium, TB Freunschlag fulfilled the TGA planning as a subcontractor, Ronge & Partner took on the kitchen planning, also as a subcontractor of the GP.

iC's tasks included project coordination, structural engineering, building physics, infiltration, construction work coordination and fire protection. In addition to the planning activities, iC was also responsible for the Climate Active certification audit. The project was awarded the certification level ‘Climate Active Silver’.
