Project objectives

New uses should be given to the currently unused areas in Terminal 2 and the adjacent objects. A partial security control and a baggage reclaim hall are being built. The building substance is being refurbished and the building services updated and adapted. In addition to this, a lounge is being built.

Project description

  • Construction of a new roof in place of the suspended roof structure, including all necessary structural adaptation and reinforcement work
  • New construction and adaptation of the building services
  • Adaptation of the fire protection in line with the latest technical standards and the new functions, construction of new escape stairs and escape routes
  • Addition of a security control and the associated boarding card control
  • Construction of retail and waiting areas
  • Creation of generous lounges
  • Construction of areas for security and border controls
  • Construction of baggage claim area with three baggage carousels and  airside connection
  • Adaptation of the plaza (central shopping area)
  • Adaptation of the signage and the shop layout

Project data

Construction costs are approximately EUR 51 million. The construction period stretches from November 2018 to March 2021.

Project specifics

The measures are being realised in a number of phases without interrupting normal operations.

Site supervision including specialist site supervision in the areas of electrical engineering, ICT, HVAC and MCR as well as site coordination in line with the Construction Work Coordination Act (BauKG).
