Project objectives

The Koralmbahn railway, Austria’s longest new railway line, connects Graz and Klagenfurt reduces the travel time from on the upgraded line from three to one hour. The centerpiece is the 33 km long Koralm tunnel.

Project data

The 125.4 km route from Graz to Klagenfurt main stations includes 11 stations in Western Styria and the Lavanttal Valley. Key features are the 3.2 km underground section from Feldkirchen to Graz airport, the 1.2 km from Weitendorf to A9 underpass, the 1.695 km Hengsberg tunnel, and the 32.894 km Koralm tunnel. The route also includes tunnel chains in Granitztal (2.55 km, 0.43 km, 3.096 km) and Kühnsdorf (0.49 km Lind tunnel) as well as a 0.63 km long enclosure in Grafenstein.
