Project objectives

In order to relieve traffic in the centre of Pforzheim (Baden-Württemberg), the construction of the Pforzheim west bypass with the new construction of the B 463 federal road is planned. Construction section 1.03 with the Arlinger Tunnel is part of this bypass road.

Project description

The Arlinger Tunnel is built as a two-lane tube traffic tunnel (including two layby-niches) in NATM construction method. To the east of the main tunnel is a rescue tunnel, which is connected to the main tunnel with four cross passages including widenings. In advance, two open cuts with a maximum embankment height of approx. 15 m (north) and 20 m (south) are to be built, some of which lie in limestone rock.

  • Rescue tunnel L = 1.07.30 m
  • Embankment height north approx. 15 m
  • Embankment height south approx. 20 m
