European Patent Office at Rennweg turns Climate Neutral

|   Projects

The European Patent Office offers patent protection, for inventors, scientists and companies worldwide, in up to 44 countries.

This process is centralised and standardised. The production and distribution of patent information products takes place at the office's Vienna branch. From 2024, this will now take place in a sustainable office building. The 50-year-old four-storey building will be gutted down to the shell. A modern and climate-positive building will be erected according to plans by ATP architekten ingenieure and accompanied by iC in terms of project control.

The Vienna office will become a climate-positive building thanks to renewable energies and energy recycling. It utilises its geothermal system with 19 geothermal probes and a heat pump. Generous photovoltaic systems and local energy storage facilities are used to cover any energy requirements that arise. The office's carbon footprint even reflects a CO-2 reduction and the surplus energy is channelled into the power grid.
