This will consolidate the essential care of cancer patients under one roof.

Previously operations were spread across five locations and will soon be streamlined. The state of Salzburg has made 80 million euros available for this construction project, with building L being scheduled to be ready early 2027. This initiative is an important step towards ensuring the best possible healthcare facilities. We are pleased to be involved in the local construction supervision together with ARGE and Bauzeitplan.

The archaeological excavations on the former cemetery site have been completed and have led to the recovery of 1,183 skeletons. Following the scientific examination, the remains will be buried in the Salzburg municipal cemetery. At the same time, construction of the new seven-storey building with an area of 5,690 square metres is progressing. It will house 66 acute beds, 12 beds in the aplasia ward, 12 palliative care beds and 27 places for outpatient care in the cancer day clinic.

Several essential enhancements are on the horizon with the completion of the new building.

  • The State Pharmacy's cytostatic preparation centre will be integrated into the building to support cancer treatment protocols.
  • Relocation of the large lecture theatre, which was due to be demolished due to upcoming construction, to the new building, eliminating the need for interim solutions.
  • Creation of retail space on the ground floor for both visitors and staff.
  • Introduction of an energy-efficient geothermal system for heating and cooling.
