Entitled "The Sustainable Construction Site - Status Quo and Science Fiction", the position paper offers solutions for new processes, techniques and best practice examples. Representatives from key organisations such as ASFINAG, HABAU, Handler, PORR, Strabag, Swietelsky, TU Vienna and Wiener Linien were involved. Another contributor to this pioneering initiative is our colleague Markus Auinger, a committed expert who has significantly enriched this project with his specialist knowledge.
The focus of the document is on implementing the ecological requirements of the EU Green Deal along the entire supply chain and on the comprehensive decarbonisation of the construction process by 2050 or 2040 in Austria.
In addition to independence from fossil fuels, the responsible use of resources, waste avoidance and the promotion of the circular economy were also analysed. Furthermore, solutions and best practice examples are presented in order to avoid stranded assets from an ecological and economic perspective. The introduction of a standardised approach for a balance sheet framework to simplify the measurement of construction process and logistics-related greenhouse gas emissions, which can be assigned to modules A4 and A5 in accordance with EN 15804, is also presented.
