Flood Protection Isel | Ground-Breaking Ceremony

|   Projects

The challenging project is intended to reduce the water level of the Isel within the city by up to 2.5 metres.

This represents an important precautionary measure against the risk of flooding in urban areas. Our comprehensive services in the course of this endeavour include submission planning, tender planning, tendering, supervision of the contract award, construction supervision, detailed surveying (red-green laser scanning) and geotechnical construction supervision.

The preventative project is a response to repeated flooding experienced by neighbouring residents and business owners. Around 100 properties should benefit from the measure. The aim is to enhance water quality in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive while simultaneously taking into account the principles of ecological flood protection.

As an additional effect, the flood protection will also create a new recreational area in the centre of the town. The project intends to dismantle the Iselpark embankment wall, build tiered seating for leisure activities and enrich the riverside experience with viewing platforms. The construction has a total length of 2.1 kilometres and is due to be completed in two years.
