He emphasised the importance of integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into these projects. Querner emphasised that despite the urgent need for rapid reconstruction as a result of the wartime damage, a long-term perspective of 5-10 years that takes sustainability and resilience into account is also necessary.
Markus Querner also highlighted that efficient project management is essential, as the associated costs usually account for 2-3% of the total project budget. He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in reconstruction efforts to ensure effective resource utilisation as well as successful project implementation.
