PDF-DownloadThe Parliament building, listed as a structure of particular architectural and historic interest, has undergone extensive renovation. The work was carried out in compliance with the general concept prepared in 2010 that specifies the renovation measures required for the rectification of damage and structural problems but also sets out measures designed to improve the usage of the building.
As part of the comprehensive renovation of the historic parliament building, ongoing operations were relocated to interim premises. The work included the restoration of historical components, the barrier-free remodelling of the National Council chamber and the installation of a large glass dome with an integrated visitor tour. In addition, the top floor was expanded and new functions such as a restaurant, terraces and the ‘Demokratikum’ interactive visitor centre were added.
